The Minister of Water Resources, Suleiman Adamu, highlights the grim reality that over 90% of schools and health institutions in Nigeria lack adequate water, sanitation, and hygiene facilities. With SDG 6 aiming to ensure water and sanitation for all by 2030, Mr. Adamu calls on state governments to invest more in the WASH sector to bridge the investment gap and create a sustainable cycle of economic growth and human development. Failure to act will perpetuate the dire state of Nigeria’s sanitation economy, estimated to be worth US$6.9 billion in 2021 and projected to grow to US$14.3 billion by 2030.
