The Super Parents Foundation hosted a remarkable event on Sunday, unveiling a book titled “Everyone Belongs” which celebrates the uniqueness of children and promotes the inclusion of special kids in society.
At the sixth inclusion children’s party held in Alausa, Ikeja, the book, authored by Islamiyat Akinsola and Mofoluwasho Liasu, was presented to the public, marking a significant milestone in fostering acceptance and understanding.
During the event, Liasu, the founder, emphasized the importance of integrating children with disabilities and their peers without disabilities. She highlighted the party’s purpose to forge lasting friendships and instill empathy among all children.
Addressing parents who isolate their children from society, Liasu urged them to reconsider, stating, “They are missing out on a wealth of potential. These children are valuable human resources who will contribute to the development of our nation. Showcase their abilities, expose them to the world, and you will find support.”
She further emphasized that people are eager to offer assistance, but they need awareness and understanding. By bringing children with disabilities into the spotlight, parents can open doors to support and resources.
Adding his perspective, Dare Dairo, the General Manager of the Lagos State Office of Disability Affairs, expressed admiration for these extraordinary children. He urged parents to perceive their children with special needs as unique gifts, requiring patience, commitment, and gratitude to uncover their hidden potential.
The event featured a captivating fashion parade, mesmerizing dance performances, gripping drama presentations, and many more engaging activities that showcased the diverse talents and abilities of the children.
It was a day filled with joy, celebration, and a powerful message of inclusivity, reminding everyone that embracing diversity enriches our society.
