The vice chancellor, Covenant University, Professor Abiodun H. Adebayo in his keynote speech at the second edition of The Nigeria Education Conference And Awards (NECA) themed: Reimagining the Role of Technology in the Nigeria Education System.
He discussed Innovation and Excellence in Education Service delivery in Nigeria: Challenges and Prospects.
He said “The ultimate goal is to facilitate the prosperity of every nation and boost the global economy through skilled human capital” and that the evolution of the education space will be to design learning experiences to be far more relevant to students’ interests and career paths.
He discussed extensively, What has changed? What can change? What is lagging behind? in education service delivery. He talked about the urgency of innovation in education, the challenges and the opportunities abound.
He made the following recommendations;
Evaluating current needs assessment as it applies to each institution.
Embracing a culture of innovation through “The 5 Whys”
Cascading teaching excellence to enhance teachers’ effectiveness.
Capacity building for school leadership across all levels.
Embracing a blended learning for rich learning experience.
Redefining a national aspiration with relevant responsive curriculum.
