The world is changing at an astronomical pace, and to be relevant today, you must acquire certain skills that are outside mere educational qualifications or certifications. Even as a civil servant, your fallow backyard must be cultivated with some eatable foodstuffs. That means that you must engage in certain vocations that are not particularly your core competence functionality.
Entrepreneurship has become synonymous with new ideas acquisitions, and hence, our educational system or curriculum must change from certificates pursuits to practical expression of ideal vocational skills.
The university must evolve a system whereby an internship program must not necessarily navigated through the core course content of the student’s department, but more of practical skills learning process or program.
The days of singularity of knowledge based educational research projects are gradually becoming obsolete, as the world is changing from analogue technology to digital access technologies and innovations.
Man is recreating the very Divine nature of God Almighty which is multi- dimensional. He created light, water, earth, heavens, varying degrees and types of birds and animals.
You can’t rely solely on a paid job without cultivating your fallow backyard with various types of food items, vegetables and even cash crops.
People are now learning how to sow, farm, repair phones etc after their normal office hours. As families are increasing in numbers, so also are the liabilities galloping in the same geometrical frequencies.
Presently, there’s no excuse for anyone not to explore the vast array of vocations that could put food on the table.
Overseas, hardly will you see anyone who is a graduate without one vocational skill or others. That’s why Nigeria educational system must be fortified with new ideas that will create multiple opportunities through entrepreneurship inclusion in our educational curriculum. Right from primary school to university, vocational education must be part of the learning process of teaching.
Our Polytechnic Schools should be encouraged to be technological driven institutions, and must be seen as capable compliment to those in the universities.
