Federal College of Education, Osile, Abeokuta has appointed Dr Rafiu Soyele as its acting Provost.
The appointment of Soyele, a Deputy Provost of the institution, followed the expiration of the tenure of Dr Ayodele Ajayi, the out-going provost.
Bola Adeshina, Spokesman of the institution, in a statement, said Soyele’s appointment which has been approved by Mallam Adamu Adamu, the Minister of Education, would be till the Governing Council of the institution is constituted by the Federal Government and a substantive Provost appointed for the institution.
Soyele is the first indigene of Egbaland and the first Alumnus of the institution to ever become its Provost since inception in 1976.
A graduate of English Education from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Soyele also has a M. A. English Language degree from University of Lagos and a PhD in English (Sociolinguistics) from University of Ibadan, obtained in 2009.
He joined FEC Osiele as Lecturer II in 1997.
Adesina in his statement described Soyele as a prolific scholar and
“He rose through the ranks to the enviable position of Chief Lecturer in the department of English in 2009.
“As a scholar, he has attended numerous local and international conferences. He has o his credit several journal articles, chapters in books and book publications. Similarly, he has been conferred with various awards and distinctions,” the statement said.
