The Federal Ministry of education is working with key stakeholder in the sector to begin broadcast of educational programmes on radio and television across the country to reach millions of students currently at home as a result of the closure of schools, caused by coronavirus pandemic.
Mallam Adamu Adamu, Minister of Education, who disclosed this after the end of the second on-line meeting of the sector, said a committee to work out modalities of actualizing the project is being set up.
Adamu disclosed that the broadcast of education programmes are now imperative in the country in view of the disruption of the 20220 academic calendar and the fact that no one knows when full academic activities will resume in the country.
Participants at the online meeting, which held on an expanded zoom platform courtesy of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) included heads and representatives of major agencies in the sector. These included Emeka Nwajiuba, the Minister of State for Education; Sonny Echono, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of education; Directors in the Ministry, some Vice Chancellors of public and private universities.
