Former World Bank Vice-President, Arunma Oteh, has highlighted the crucial role that Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) can play in solving Nigeria’s multi-dimensional challenges. Speaking at an event in Abuja celebrating youth entrepreneurship, Oteh noted that entrepreneurs were problem solvers who found solutions where others saw trouble. However, she also acknowledged the challenges faced by SMEs in Nigeria, including an unfavourable business environment, poor access to credit and a lack of reliable power supply. Oteh called for a concerted effort to overcome these obstacles, citing SMEs as the key to unlocking Nigeria’s untapped potential.
