CIBN and NBTE Collaborate to Upgrade Banking and Finance Education
The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance the teaching of banking and finance in polytechnics. The collaboration aims to inject practicality into the curriculum to bridge the gaps in Nigeria’s education system.
Dr. Ken Opara, CIBN’s President, expressed his gratitude to Professor Idris Bugaje, the head of NBTE, for their achievements in improving the country’s education system. He added that the collaboration would ensure that banking and finance students are equipped with contemporary skills and knowledge to adapt to changes in the financial services industry.
CIBN and NBTE will jointly accredit polytechnics to ensure compliance with teaching standards, guaranteeing that graduates of the program are equipped with current industry practices. Additionally, CIBN sponsored the review of the National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) banking and finance curriculum, which ended the use of the 19-year-old curriculum.
