Polytechnics Neglected in Research, NBTE Calls for Synergy with Universities for Innovation”
The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has expressed concerns that research in Nigeria is not producing the desired results due to the neglect of polytechnics. During an interactive meeting with Rectors and Directors of Research of Polytechnics on National Research Fund, grants organized by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, the Executive Secretary of NBTE, Prof. Idris Bugaje, called for closer collaboration between universities and polytechnics to drive innovation. The Executive Secretary of TETFund, Sonny Echono, also emphasized the need for skilled manpower in the country and urged polytechnics to focus on quality research proposals that can translate into commercial and innovative use.
