Following the retirement of Ifeyinwa Ugochukwu, the board of trustees of the Tony Elumelu Foundation named Somachi Chris-Asoluka the new CEO.
The foundation stated that the appointment will begin on March 1 as this was announced last Monday through the Tony Elumelu Foundation progenitor’s official social media channels.
“The foundation, since inception, has been led by a succession of dynamic and diverse CEOs, who have each brought passion, commitment, and innovation,” he said.
“As the tenure of Ifeyinwa draws to a close, I look back on the last five years and pay tribute to the impact she has made, first as Director of Partnerships, and later as the Chief Executive Officer.”
Elumelu stated that he is certain Chris-Asoluka will continue in Ifeyinwa Ugochukwu’s footsteps, deploying her knowledge and connections in partnership development to stimulate business growth across all African nations.
Chris-Asoluka has been with the foundation since 2014. In that time, she has held several leadership positions, including Head of Research, Head of Policy and External Relations, and most recently, Director of Partnerships and Communications, all of which required her to use her considerable leadership skills, dedication, and strategic mind to realize the organization’s goal of remaking Africa.
She had her Bachelor of Science in Economics at Mary’s College in California and her Master of Arts in International and Developmental Economics at Yale.
