There is no gainsaying that the standard of education in any clime is inextricably tied to the welfare of the teachers who on a day to day basis interface with the pupils.
Team Lead for @Eduplana, a Civic tech organization that uses data to advocate for quality education in Nigeria, Oriyomi Ogunwale has stressed that adequate remuneration and general welfare of stakeholders in the education sector is of prime importance.
” For you to be able to do your job in a most efficient way, you must be adequately remunerated. That is why the issue of welfare is of Paramount importance. There is still a lot to be done in terms of teachers’ welfare before we can say that we have the best of education”.
Talking about the mandate of his organization, Ogunwale said,” We ask questions where teachers are not adequately remunerated”.
