Professor Abdulraheem Yusuf, the Provost of the College of Education, Ilorin was sacked by the Kwara Stated Government on Friday, May 21, 2021.
Yusuf, whose tenure still has up to one year more before expiration was allegedly engaged in running battles with the management and staff of the institution since the assumption of office.
The dispute between the Provost and the management of the school had bordered on maladministration. His sack letter was issued on May 21.
Dr Ahmed Jimoh Ayinla has been appointed the Acting Provost in place of Professor Yusuf .
Report has it that the newly constituted governing council of the college was overwhelmed with petitions against the sacked provost which it acted upon leading to his removal.
Rafiu Ajakaye, the Spokesman to Governor, confirming the development said that Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq approved the provost’s sack in line with extant laws.
This law mandates due consultations with the relevant bodies, in this case, the institution’s governing council as the case may be.
Ajakaye further explained that the Governor has also directed the governing council of the institution to begin the process of appointment of a new provost for the institution in line with extant laws.
