The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) seven-man presidential visitation panel set up by the Federal Government to look into the affairs of the institution has commenced work with ten terms of reference.
Isa Sali, the chairman of the panel stated the panel’s terms of reference during a meeting with the governing council of the institution.
“Investigate the application of funds, particularly the special grants and loan meant for particular projects in order to determine the statue of such projects and their relevance for further funding”, Sali stated.
Moreover, he said the visiting panel will in addition investigate the general security in NOUN.
“The general security in the university and how the university has dealt with it and recommend appropriate measures”, he said.
Sali went on to explain that the meeting is set to seek the support of the governing council on best strategies to carry out the assignment.
Recall the Federal Government had a few weeks ago set up and inaugurated visitation panels to all Federal Universities and Inter-University Centers in Nigeria.
The Chairman noted the role of the panel was to examine the financial management of NOUN, including statutory allocations and internally generated revenue over the recommended period.
“Inquire into the level of implementation of the white paper on the last visitation report, to examine the quality of the leadership of the university in terms of the role of the governing board, the vice chancellor and other principal officers”, he explained.
