Organisers of Kao International Eco-Painting competition for children have decided to collapse the 2020 contest into the 2021 edition. Hence, entry works received at the office of Kao International Environment Painting Contest after Septermber4, 2020 deadline will be kept as being eligible for the 2021 contest. Such will be screened together with the 2021 entries.
The Kao Group has held this contest annually since 2010, with the aim of encouraging children around
the world to think seriously about conservation of the environment around them and of the earth, as
well as about the earth's future, and express their thoughts in paintings, which will also encourage
people around the world to take action in their daily life to preserve the environment.
The theme for this year's competition is “Together, we are eco-friendly”. Participants are
expected to through their paintings think about what can be done to protect the global environment and pass it on to future generations.
Any child from the age of 6 to 15 years from any part of the world is eligible to enter for the competition.
Entry date remains what it was in 2020, which is March 23 to September 4, 2020.
The number of entry per participant is one entry per person. Only previously unexhibited works created after January 2021 will be eligible.
The entry specifications demand that paintings should be 392mm x 542 mm and/or smaller.
Any means of direct drawing, painting, or coloring – crayon, colored pencil, watercolor, acrylic
or oil paint, ink, wood or linocut printing, etc; is allowed. However, works (collage) with pasted
elements, works painted on a canvas and digital art works will not be eligible.
Besides, your entry should show that you fully understood and integrated the “Together, we are eco-friendly” theme into your work.
However, the theme should not be a catchy phrase or slogan, but rather artfully expressed in your entry. Freedom of thought that is unique to children and the expressions with full of originality and creativity in your picture are highly recommended.
To enter for the contest, download a pdf file (eco_activities_04_00_001), fill out the required
areas, paste to the center on the back of your artwork.

Address: 8-3-29 Tajima, Sakura-ku, Saitama 338-0837, JAPAN
+81-48-872-1082. ( kao-contest@hit-bits.com ). Do not fold or roll up your artwork. Send it in a flat envelope, inserting cardboard or something firm to ensure it does not bend during shipping.
Entry with a work attached on e-mail is disqualified. Joint works will not be eligible. If the
picture contains writing, it must not show the name of a specific person, group, trade name, or
company. Similarly, pictures showing copies of other artworks, and entries featuring specific
characters, names of individuals, companies or products and logos will not be eligible.
Moreover, works, their titles, written messages or descriptions, name, age, residential area may
be used or published on website, advertisements, images, publications and exhibitions of Kao or
organizations designated by Kao. Works, their titles, written messages or descriptions may also
be partially modified on these occasions. In addition, if the entry wins a prize, the photographs
taken at the awards ceremony may be used in the same manner as stated above.
Ownership of works belongs to Kao. Original pictures will not be returned.
The permission of a parent or guardian is required for entry.
Personal information provided with the entry will be used to contact prizewinners as the
management of the contest at the time of the award. In addition, We may provide this
information the contractor with the scope necessary to outsource the contest.
Intending participants are required familiarize themselves with the guidelines before submitting
an entry to the contest.

Program activities will follow almost the sequence of the 2020 edition. Schedule of activities
March 23, start accepting entries, September 4, deadline for all entries.
In the month of November,the contest organisers will announce winners on Kao International
website, December, awards ceremony for the top nine prize winners in Tokyo.
Prizes and Awards ceremony prizes- eco together – Planet Earth Grand Prix: 1 winner (plaque
and prize)-eco together – Kao Prize: 8 winners (plaque and prize), Eco Friend Prize: 23 winners
(certificate and prize), Group Prize: 5 groups (certificate and prize).
Winners of the “eco together”; – Planet Earth Grand Prix and the”eco together”; – Kao Prize will be invited to attend the awards ceremony in Tokyo, come Dcember.
