Mr. Babatunde Sanwo-Olu, the Executive Governor of Lagos State has made available free MP3 e-learning tools to public school pupils in the state under the EKOEXCEL imitative of Lagos State government to boost learning.
Mr. Femi Hamzat, the Deputy Governor of Lagos State who represented Governor Sanwo-Olu at the official flag –off of Project Zero.
He officially received 450,000MP3 players at the flag-off , to enhance learning for Lagos State public primary school pupils.
The Lagos State’s flagship basic education transformation programme, EKOEXCEL held a demonstration session showcasing the utility of the MP3 e-learning devices for primary school pupils with participation from the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Education Secretaries, parents, and other stakeholders.
The MP3 learning initiative was borne out of the wasted months of the coronavirus pandemic.
Mr. Lanre Dairo, a member of EKOEXCEL, who spoke at the event said Governor Sanwo-Olu’s commitment to education in Lagos State during the pandemic restrictions spurred a digital learning drive for public primary school pupils in the state. This is demonstrated by the rollout of EKOEXCEL MP3 media players provided to all 450,000 pupils in Lagos State.
“The parent- friendly, grade-appropriate pre-recorded lessons on the MP3 players will be regularly updated and make learning at home easier and more accessible for children of all households. This is the largest ever e-learning drive in Africa”, he said.
Dairo went on to explain that the MP3 learning tools will further empower pupils learning on individual basis, adding that it allows all pupils to learn at their own pace and even ahead of teacher instruction.
Hon. Adedoyin Adesina, the NUT Chairman, Lagos State, applauded the government of Lagos State for investing in the welfare and educational development of the children, who he said are the future leaders.
“The MP3 players are learning tools that will keep the pupils learning at home at their own pace and convenience”, he stated.
Adesina furthermore urged parents and stakeholders in education to complement the efforts of the teachers in the school and assist their children and wards to take advantage of the MP3 players provided by the state government.
