The Enugu College of Education Technical (ESCET) held its ever virtual matriculation and convocation ceremonies at the College Auditorium on Friday and Saturday, October 9 &10.
Dr. Hycinth Osondu Eze, the Provost of the institution had earlier on behalf of the Governing Council, Academic Board and the entire College Community invited the Freshmen and 2009 to 2018 NCE and PDE graduands to the College’s virtual Matriculation and 1st to 10th Consolidated Convocation Ceremonies.
The Matriculation was for all NCE, Degree and PDE students admitted during the 2019/2020 academic session; while the convocation is for NCE and PDE graduands, from 2009 to 2018 graduating sets.
Only the Council Members, Principal Officers, Deans and Directors, Students Representatives, Alumni Representatives and those who were given written invitation were physically allowed into the venue.
According to directives from the institution, other guests were made to participate virtually via a link that was provided by the College. The Provost said that attendance was strictly on invitation and all Covid-19 precautionary measures were strictly to be observed for those who were physically present at the venue of the event as scheduled.
It will be recalled that Enugu State College of Education (technical) was established in 2006 during the regime of Dr. Chimaroke Nnamani by the State House of Assembly Law No.2. The College was primarily conceived as a training centre for teachers of technical education in the state. The institution was also to be unique in the sense that it would principally train technical and vocational education teachers without neglecting academic areas of study.
