The All Nigerian Conference of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS) has appealed to all stakeholders to ensure prompt implementation of the incentives the Federal Government announced during the World Teachers’ Day celebration.
Mr. Anselm Izuagie, the National President of the Association, who spoke to the press in a chat, explained that the President Muhammadu Buhari had three years left to monitor the actualization of the incentives promised.
President Buhari had approved a special salary scale for teachers, 65 years as retirement age, against 60 which was the former retirement age, 40 years as retirement by service and increase in science allowance, among other benefits.
“Our appeal now is for all the relevant agencies, governors, SGF office, Salaries and Wages Commission, to expedite action to implement these policies of Mr. President, as we need the relevant law to back it.
“They should remember that it is not about politics of civil service, but about the development and well being of Nigeria through deliberate policies to better the teaching profession”, he said.
