University of Ilorin has for the fourth year emerged the most preferred University of first choice by admission seekers in Nigeria.
Statistics from the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) revealed that the school had 103,582 students (5.31percent of admission seekers) applying for its admission in 2020.
Students of the school attributed its stable academic calendar over the years as a major attraction. The university has been relatively peaceful and devoid of industrial unrest as its academic staff for almost two decades never went on a strike. However, this was broken in March this year.
Other top universities of choice for admission seekers are Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), the University of Lagos (UNILAG) with 74,800 applications, and Bayero University (BUK), Kano with 70.376 applications.
Closing in on them are the University of Nigeria, (UNN), Nsukka with 68,971 applicants and the University of Benin (UNIBEN) with 68,805.
Sitting in seventh place is the University of Ibadan, which had 62,606 applicants for the year. Obafemi Awolowo University had 58,914 applicants.
Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Akwa with 58,292 applicants and the University of Jos with 57,318 complete the top ten most crave after Universities by applicants in Nigeria.
